Travel to the Maldives is set to become even more comfortable and luxurious as Emirates introduces its newly retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft on flights to the island nation, starting June 1, 2025. The enhancement is part of Emirates’ extensive cabin upgrade programme aimed at modernizing its fleet and elevating the travel experience for passengers worldwide.
The first of the revamped Boeing 777s will be deployed on flights EK 658 and EK 659, offering travelers to the Maldives a refreshed and upgraded journey. Following this, two additional services, EK 656/657 and EK 660/661, will be operated by retrofitted aircraft from July 15, 2025. These upgraded jets boast Emirates’ new four-class cabin configuration, featuring the much-anticipated Premium Economy seats and redesigned Business Class suites that offer enhanced privacy and comfort.
Each updated Boeing 777 will accommodate 24 Premium Economy seats and 260 Economy Class seats, complementing the airline’s First and Business Class offerings. The Premium Economy cabin has been carefully designed to meet the growing demand for superior yet affordable luxury, featuring spacious seating, greater recline, and sophisticated interiors inspired by the latest trends in travel comfort.
This cabin renewal project is part of Emirates’ ambitious plan to refurbish over 220 aircraft, including both Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s, by September 2025. The airline is currently completing the retrofit of one aircraft every three weeks, reflecting its commitment to maintaining a world-class fleet.
The Maldives remains a central destination within Emirates’ global network, drawing visitors from around the world to its pristine beaches, vibrant marine life, and luxurious resorts. Emirates is one of the largest international carriers connecting the Maldives to key cities across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and beyond. According to the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 44 international airlines currently operate flights to the Maldives, underlining the country’s enduring popularity as both a holiday and transit destination.
With the addition of the refurbished Boeing 777 aircraft, travelers to the Maldives can look forward to an even more enjoyable start to their tropical escape, further enhancing the Maldives’ reputation as a premier luxury travel destination.
