The chairman of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Mohamed Umar Manik (MU Manik), has submitted his resignation. On Thursday, January 28, the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) acknowledged receiving his letter of resignation.

The PCB stated that Manik’s resignation was due to health concerns. He stated in his resignation that he was concerned about how his health would prevent him from carrying out his chairmanship to the fullest.

Manik became a member of the MACL board in 2013 and went on to become its chairman. As a well-respected pioneer of the tourism business, he occupies a prominent role in the Maldives.

Manik continues to be active in the tourist sector as the Chairman and Co-Founder of the Maldives Association of tourist Industry (MATI), despite his resignation from MACL.
