MACL, the main service provider for the biggest International Airport, namely Velana International Airport has stated that they will be implementing means of Taxi stands for the passengers using the Domestic Terminal of the airport.
The Managing Director of MACL Mr. Ibrahim Shareef has stated that from today onwards, passengers using the domestic terminal would get the means to get a Taxi right in front of the terminal. Previously, Taxis were only allowed to drop of passengers at the international terminal only. Special permitted vehicles were allowed to pass through towards the domestic terminal.
Managing Director Mr. Ibrahim Shareef added that his main focus in the upcoming days for the airport would be streamlining the current processes to provide a smooth operation for all the passengers using the airport. He also said that the drop off for the passengers are allowed from today onwards while in the upcoming days, the road to the domestic terminal would be paved, expanded, so that a Taxi queue could be accommodated for the arriving passengers as well.
The current setup in this area would make the taxis to take a “U-Turn” through the cargo area of the MACL. MACL currently holds a cargo area near Hulhu Island Hotel as well. The current government had thought of expanding the domestic airport through the discussions as well.
With this newly added amendment for the land plan of the airport, this would bring immense help for the passengers who currently needs to walk for a quite a bit to get a taxi to get out of the airport.
MACL is currently on the verge of a huge expansion for international terminal as well.
