The Maldives Immigration has announced the discontinuation of the requirement for Maldivian citizens to submit “Traveller Declaration” form when entering or exiting the country.

The decision to waive off this requirement was made by the new Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Shamaan Waheed.

The traveller declaration form was introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic to record and monitor persons travelling in and out of the country. Passengers are required to submit their personal information including flight details via Immigration’s IMUGA portal.

The decision comes after increased complaints from the public about the inconvenience of having to submit the form while travelling in and out of the country.
