Maldivian companies and industry stakeholders have been invited to participate in Halal Indo Expo 2026, an international business exhibition offering opportunities to explore exports, commercial partnerships, investment cooperation and entry into Indonesia’s rapidly expanding halal market.

The Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade has opened participation for Maldivian businesses interested in attending the four-day exhibition, which is scheduled to be held in Tangerang, Indonesia, from 24 to 27 September 2026. The event is expected to provide participating companies with a valuable platform to introduce their products and services, establish direct connections with potential buyers and investors, and gain greater insight into emerging developments across the global halal economy.

Organised in Indonesia since 2018, Halal Indo Expo forms part of the country’s continuing efforts to strengthen its position as an international centre for halal products and services. Indonesia represents one of the world’s most significant halal consumer markets, supported by a large population, an increasingly diverse private sector and growing demand for products and services that comply with recognised halal principles.

The exhibition brings together producers, exporters, manufacturers, investors, distributors, buyers, entrepreneurs and industry professionals from different countries. Through this international gathering, businesses are provided with opportunities to evaluate market demand, identify distribution channels, develop commercial relationships and explore possibilities for expanding their operations beyond their domestic markets.

Halal Indo Expo 2026 will feature a broad range of sectors, including halal food manufacturing, food processing, product development, modest fashion and lifestyle products, halal-certified cosmetics and beauty products, Islamic banking and financial services, and halal tourism. The diversity of participating sectors is expected to create opportunities for Maldivian businesses operating in tourism, fisheries, food production, finance, fashion, personal care, technology and other related industries.

For Maldivian companies, the exhibition could serve as an important platform for promoting locally produced goods and services to international audiences. Businesses may use the event to present the quality, authenticity and commercial potential of Maldivian products, including seafood, processed food products, tourism services, lifestyle brands and other offerings suitable for the international halal market.

The programme will also include business-matching sessions, professional consultations and industry engagement activities designed to facilitate direct commercial discussions between participating companies and prospective partners. These sessions are expected to support companies seeking importers, distributors, investors, suppliers, technical expertise and other forms of international cooperation.

Participation will additionally allow Maldivian representatives to observe new trends in halal certification, product development, packaging, branding, consumer preferences and international market standards. Such exposure could help local companies strengthen their competitiveness, improve their readiness for export markets and develop products that respond more effectively to the expectations of global consumers.

Businesses interested in attending Halal Indo Expo 2026 are required to submit an online application through the exhibition’s official website. Applicants have also been requested to share details of their submissions with the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade through the email address [email protected].

The previous edition of the exhibition was held in Jakarta from 25 to 28 September 2025 and featured 346 exhibitors representing 11 countries. Participating markets included Malaysia, Thailand, China, Libya, Singapore and the United States, demonstrating the event’s growing international reach and its role in connecting businesses from Asia, the Middle East, Africa and other regions.

Maldivian participation in the 2026 exhibition is expected to support the country’s broader efforts to diversify exports, strengthen private-sector engagement and establish new commercial connections within the international halal economy. The event also offers local businesses an opportunity to present the Maldives not only as a globally recognised tourism destination, but also as a source of high-quality products, professional services and commercially competitive halal offerings.
