Aeroflot has announced the introduction of additional flights in March connecting Moscow with key international tourism destinations including Bangkok, Phuket, Malé, and Colombo. The expanded schedule responds to rising passenger demand and aims to provide greater travel flexibility for travellers whose flights with foreign airlines were cancelled due to the unstable situation in the Middle East. The additional services are intended to ensure continuity of travel for international passengers while supporting the growing flow of tourists to major leisure destinations.
The airline will operate 12 additional return flights between Moscow and the four destinations during March. These services will be operated using wide-body Boeing 777 aircraft, providing passengers with increased capacity and long-haul comfort on these routes. Tickets for the additional flights are already available for booking, enabling travellers to secure alternative travel arrangements during a period when flight availability has been affected by regional disruptions.
Aeroflot had previously announced plans to add 13 extra flights to Thailand and the Maldives during the same period. With the newly introduced services, the airline will operate a total of 25 additional return flights in March. This expansion will create 9,875 additional seats on flights to and from Thailand, 5,394 additional seats on flights serving Malé in the Maldives, and 4,020 seats on services connecting Moscow with Sri Lanka.
The increase in flights to Malé reflects the Maldives’ continued popularity among international travellers seeking premium resort experiences, pristine natural environments, and year-round tropical weather. The island nation is widely recognised for its collection of luxury resorts situated across private islands, offering high-end villas, overwater accommodations, and world-class hospitality services. Visitors are drawn to the Maldives for its turquoise lagoons, white sandy beaches, coral reefs, and diverse marine life, making it one of the most sought-after destinations for leisure travellers, honeymooners, and luxury holidaymakers.
Resorts across the Maldives continue to attract global visitors with a combination of luxury accommodation, personalised guest services, and unique island experiences. Many properties feature spacious beachfront and overwater villas with direct ocean access, private pools, and panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Guests can enjoy a wide range of experiences including diving and snorkelling in vibrant coral reefs, marine wildlife encounters, sunset cruises, wellness retreats, and fine dining featuring international and locally inspired cuisine. The country’s strong focus on sustainability and environmental preservation further enhances its reputation as a premium destination for responsible tourism.
The additional flight capacity introduced by Aeroflot is expected to support the continued growth of tourism to the Maldives and other leading destinations in the region. Increased connectivity between Moscow and Malé provides travellers with greater access to the archipelago while strengthening travel links between Russia and one of the world’s most distinctive island destinations. As international travel demand continues to recover and diversify, enhanced airline connectivity remains an important factor in supporting tourism flows and providing travellers with reliable travel options.
