With the island reclamation projects still on going, a newest addition to the ring of islands in Male’ Atoll (Kaafu Atoll) has been formed.
From the naming committee for the geographically related places, has named the island as ‘Kasanfushi’. This island is north to the eastern most island of Maldives, K.Dhiffushi. The purposes of artificaly reclaiming this island was to build and develop a resort island.
In the 9th annual meeting of the council, the name was approved with the full support of all the members.
It is believed that this island would bring a sustainable income to the adjacent islands and could develop the islands to a tourism hub as well.
