The 2027 edition of the Visit Maldives Destination Guide has been officially launched at World Travel Market (WTM) London, presenting international travel industry partners with a comprehensive new resource on the Maldives’ tourism sector as the country prepares for Visit Maldives Year 2027.

The guide was unveiled during a special event at the Maldives stand at WTM London by Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen and Visit Maldives Corporation Managing Director Abdulla Yasir. The launch places the destination guide before a global audience of travel professionals, tourism businesses, investors and industry decision-makers attending one of the world’s major travel trade exhibitions.

According to Yasir, the Destination Guide has been developed as a comprehensive publication to share important and practical information on the Maldives tourism industry with international markets. It brings together details on the country’s resorts, tour operators, tourism-related properties, development initiatives and emerging investment opportunities, while also highlighting the traditions, cultural heritage and distinctive identity that add depth to the Maldivian travel experience.

The publication gives particular prominence to the Maldives’ internationally renowned resort sector, which remains central to the country’s global tourism appeal. From private island retreats and premium beachfront properties to family-oriented resorts and experience-led destinations, the guide offers industry partners a broader understanding of the variety of accommodation and holiday experiences available across the archipelago. It also provides useful information on travel opportunities and tourism experiences designed to help travellers and trade partners better plan, position and promote Maldivian holidays.

Launching the guide at WTM London also enables Visit Maldives to directly share the publication with international businesses through business-to-business meetings. Yasir said this will support travel companies in communicating accurate and updated destination information to their clients and wider networks, helping expand the Maldives’ visibility across key source markets.

The release comes at an important time for the country’s tourism industry, with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu designating 2027 as Visit Maldives Year. The initiative is expected to provide further momentum for destination promotion, international engagement and tourism growth, while strengthening the Maldives’ position as one of the world’s most aspirational island destinations.

The newly released Maldives Travel Guide will serve as an additional reference for international tourism stakeholders, travel professionals, investors and travellers planning holidays in the Maldives. By combining information on resorts, tourism businesses, investment prospects, culture and travel experiences, the publication is expected to support the Government’s wider efforts to enhance the country’s tourism profile and attract greater global interest during Visit Maldives Year 2027.
