The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has extended the submission deadline for the MMA FinLit Fest – Financial Futures Essay Competition to 15 November 2026, giving young writers across the country additional time to develop and share their ideas on building a smarter and more financially resilient future.

The competition is open to students from Grades 8 to 12 throughout the Maldives and encourages participants to express their perspectives on financial literacy, responsible decision-making and the role young people can play in shaping stronger financial futures. The revised deadline is 15 November 2026 at 23:59 Maldives Time.

With cash prizes of up to MVR 3,000, the competition provides students with an opportunity not only to showcase their writing skills, but also to think critically about financial choices, saving, planning and the importance of developing sound financial habits from a young age.

The initiative forms part of the wider MMA FinLit Fest 2026, which seeks to strengthen financial awareness and encourage practical understanding of financial matters among young Maldivians. By engaging students at an important stage of their education, the programme supports national efforts to build a generation that is better prepared to make informed financial decisions and contribute positively to the country’s economic future.

Students interested in participating can access the official participant guidebook and submission information through the QR code provided by MMA. The extended deadline offers aspiring writers a valuable additional opportunity to refine their essays and present their vision for better financial futures under the message, “Young Minds. Smart Choices. Better Financial Futures.”
