A new publication dedicated to the Maldives’ rapidly evolving construction and infrastructure landscape has officially entered the scene, offering valuable insight into a key driver of the nation’s economic development. Mason Magazine, launched by The Travel Guys, becomes the country’s first-ever publication exclusively focused on the construction, real estate, and infrastructure industries, establishing a vital platform for local and international stakeholders engaged in business tourism and development ventures across the Maldives.
The launch event of Mason Magazine Issue 01 was held at JEN Malé by Shangri-La, attracting leading figures from the construction industry, business community, and government. The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Uz. Ahmed Nazim, State Minister at the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, alongside partners and industry stakeholders.
As a print platform designed to inform and connect the construction ecosystem of the Maldives, Mason Magazine delivers in-depth coverage including expert interviews, analytical features, and sector-specific updates. The publication seeks to bring visibility to infrastructure achievements, highlight the voices behind major developments, and enhance transparency within the sector. It is expected to play a key role in fostering informed dialogue and collaboration, particularly as international investors increasingly turn their attention to infrastructure opportunities in the Maldives.
The first issue is supported by leading names in the sector. Dhivehi Insurance Company joined as the Title Partner, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the construction industry through bespoke insurance solutions. Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Ameel, Managing Director of Dhivehi Insurance, stated, “Giving a voice for the Maldives’ construction industry has been a longstanding ambition of Dhivehi Insurance. I was lucky to have this conversation with The Travel Guys, who shared the same vision. Thank you for bringing it to life. At Dhivehi Insurance, we understand the challenges and uncertainties that come with each construction project. That’s why we continue providing the support needed at every stage of construction.”
Also joining Mason Magazine Issue 01 as Gold Partners were three prominent companies: AMIN Construction, Timber House, and Maldives Assure Supply—each recognized for their contributions to building and materials supply in the country. Their support further underscores the industry-wide endorsement of this platform as a meaningful resource for information and collaboration.
Fraath Mohamed, Managing Director at The Travel Guys, emphasized the purpose behind the launch: “Today, we take the next bold step with the launch of Mason Magazine, a print platform that celebrates the people, the ideas, and the ambition shaping the Maldives’ construction industry. We’re stepping into this space not just as publishers, but as committed collaborators. With curiosity, creativity, and care. This is just the beginning.”
To mark the launch, The Travel Guys also initiated a photo competition and giveaway on social media under the hashtag #masongotme, encouraging participants to capture the evolving cityscapes of the Maldives through their lenses. The campaign not only brought additional visibility to the magazine’s debut but also creatively engaged the public in exploring the urban transformation taking place across the islands.
Mason Magazine forms part of a broader initiative under Mason Works, a platform established to empower the Maldivian construction sector by promoting the exchange of knowledge and innovation. Alongside the magazine, Mason Works runs the website Masonworks.build and is preparing for the Mason Summit, a large-scale industry event scheduled to take place in 2026. This summit will bring together policymakers, developers, consultants, and investors for high-level discussions and exhibitions related to sustainable development, smart city planning, and infrastructure investment.
With tourism infrastructure representing a cornerstone of the Maldivian economy, the development of a dedicated publication like Mason Magazine signals increased maturity in the sector and a growing appetite for international collaboration. The magazine provides an essential reference point for foreign investors, tourism developers, and construction consultants seeking a comprehensive understanding of the local market.
Foreign tourists and business visitors interested in the behind-the-scenes developments that support the Maldives’ globally renowned resorts and urban expansion can now explore the dynamics of the industry through Mason Magazine. For investors and professionals in architecture, engineering, and construction, this publication offers timely insights and opportunities in a country that continues to grow as a destination, not only for leisure but for forward-looking business ventures.
