Through the Makkah Route Initiative, which the Maldives joined this year, travel procedures for Maldivian Hajj pilgrims were notably simplified. The initiative allowed for advanced clearance and streamlined immigration processes, easing the transit experience for pilgrims at Velana International Airport itself before departure. This greatly reduced wait times and administrative hurdles upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.
In addition to the travel facilitation, Maldivian pilgrims were accommodated in facilities that complied fully with the Kingdom’s regulatory standards and received enhanced services designed to support their spiritual journey. The attention to detail, from health and safety measures to logistical support, reflected a deep respect for the needs of pilgrims and highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing world-class services during the Hajj season.
