President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed deep appreciation to the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their exceptional hospitality and dedication in serving pilgrims visiting the Two Holy Mosques. In a message written in Arabic and shared via his official X account, the President extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Government of Saudi Arabia.

He described the Kingdom’s generosity and consistent care for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims as an enduring and noble act of devotion to Islam, one that goes beyond what words can fully express. President Muizzu acknowledged the outstanding level of service and organisation provided by Saudi authorities and highlighted their unwavering commitment to ensuring the spiritual journey of millions of pilgrims is smooth, secure, and dignified.

In his message, the President offered prayers for the King, Crown Prince, and the people of Saudi Arabia, asking Allah to grant them long life, good health, and continued success in their service to the Islamic world. He also prayed for the Kingdom’s protection from those with malicious intent and for enduring peace, stability, and prosperity to prevail throughout the nation.

This year, the Kingdom’s support to Maldivian pilgrims has been particularly commendable. Through the Makkah Route Initiative, which the Maldives joined this year, travel procedures for Maldivian Hajj pilgrims were notably simplified. The initiative allowed for advanced clearance and streamlined immigration processes, easing the transit experience for pilgrims at Velana International Airport itself before departure. This greatly reduced wait times and administrative hurdles upon arrival in Saudi Arabia.

In addition to the travel facilitation, Maldivian pilgrims were accommodated in facilities that complied fully with the Kingdom’s regulatory standards and received enhanced services designed to support their spiritual journey. The attention to detail, from health and safety measures to logistical support, reflected a deep respect for the needs of pilgrims and highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing world-class services during the Hajj season.

The consistent support extended by the Saudi government over the years has played a vital role in enriching the pilgrimage experience for Maldivians. The appreciation from the highest office in the Maldives underscores the importance of this bilateral cooperation and the profound respect held for the Kingdom’s leadership within the Maldivian community.

This gesture of gratitude further strengthens the long-standing cultural and religious ties between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia and reinforces shared values rooted in Islamic brotherhood, hospitality, and devotion.
