A vibrant fusion of regional Indian flavors and modern gastronomy is set to take center stage this June at Jumeirah Olhahali Island, as the resort partners with the esteemed Indian restaurant Atrangi by Ritu Dalmia for a week-long culinary event. Scheduled from 7 to 12 June 2025, the island retreat will host an exclusive pop-up showcasing a five-course dining experience, designed to elevate traditional Indian cuisine with global flair and creativity.
This collaboration brings together the expertise of Atrangi’s Head Chef Aniket Chatterjee and the resident culinary team of Jumeirah Olhahali Island. Together, they will offer discerning guests a gourmet journey that reflects the distinctive philosophy of Chef Ritu Dalmia, one of India’s most acclaimed chefs and restaurateurs. Known for her trailblazing career that began at just 22 with the launch of Delhi’s first standalone Italian restaurant, Dalmia has since expanded her culinary footprint across India and Europe. Through Atrangi, located at Jumeirah Al Qasr in Dubai, she continues to redefine Indian fine dining with a bold and imaginative approach.

Chef Aniket Chatterjee, carrying Dalmia’s culinary ethos to the Maldives, will curate a series of elegant dinners by the ocean and relaxed beach grills under the stars. His specially crafted menu celebrates the essence of Indian cooking while incorporating modern influences and international techniques. Guests can expect an immersive experience, starting with an innovative take on the classic chilli cheese toast, moving into inventive dishes like pickled doodhi with smoked dahi, and featuring options such as Malvani chicken tikka with confit garlic or paneer peeli mirch tikka served with spring onion curry for vegetarian diners.
The evening continues with a palate refresher in the form of a whipped butter board, followed by hearty mains including kappa meen curry or satu pulao accompanied by dalma, parwal, and a smoky burnt tomato chutney, an homage to India’s richly diverse culinary heritage. To conclude the experience on a sweet note, guests will be treated to traditional Indian desserts such as pistachio soan papdi and miniature jalebi paired with creamy rabri.
Chef Ritu Dalmia expressed her enthusiasm for bringing Atrangi to the Maldives, stating, “Maldives has always been a special country for me, having visited multiple times. It’s an absolute joy to host a pop-up here where we can present community-inspired dishes while experimenting with the finest Maldivian ingredients.”

The beach grill event at Shimmers Beach on 10 June will be available at USD 225++ per person, offering a relaxed and intimate setting. On other evenings, the five-course tasting menu will be served at a scenic oceanfront venue for USD 195++ per person, delivering a refined dining affair in a breathtaking island setting.
This initiative not only highlights the Maldives as a premier luxury travel destination but also underscores its emerging reputation as a gourmet hotspot for global travelers. With its natural beauty and growing emphasis on world-class culinary experiences, Jumeirah Olhahali Island continues to offer unforgettable moments for visitors seeking more than just sun and sand.
