A new international partnership is set to expand the global visibility of the Maldives as a top-tier holiday destination. Ooredoo Maldives has officially signed a strategic agreement with the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) to amplify the country’s tourism brand, “Visit Maldives,” across Ooredoo Group’s vast customer base of 150 million people worldwide.
The signing ceremony took place on 05th May 2025, Monday at Ooredoo Maldives Headquarters in Hulhumalé, with Ooredoo Maldives CEO and Managing Director Khalid Al-Khamadi and MMPRC CEO and Managing Director Shiuree Ibrahim formalizing the partnership. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to advancing the Maldives’ position in global tourism markets through collaborative marketing and outreach initiatives.
Ooredoo Group, a leading telecommunications provider operating in 10 countries across Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa including the Maldives, will now lend its regional platforms and expansive network reach to support MMPRC’s international destination marketing efforts. This collaboration is expected to bolster the Maldives’ presence in key source markets and attract new visitor segments by integrating tourism promotion into Ooredoo’s digital and communications channels.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Khalid Al-Khamadi expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration:
“We are honored to partner with MMPRC in promoting the Maldives, one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. With the strength of Ooredoo’s global network, we aim to inspire more travelers from our international markets to experience the unique beauty, culture, and hospitality of the Maldives.”
MMPRC CEO and Managing Director Shiuree Ibrahim also highlighted the strategic value of this alliance:
“This partnership with Ooredoo marks a major step in enhancing our global outreach. Ooredoo’s established presence across numerous international markets offers a strategic opportunity to elevate our brand visibility and further promote the Maldives as a premier tourist destination.”
The initiative reflects Ooredoo Maldives’ broader mission to support national development through partnerships that have tangible economic impact. With tourism being the backbone of the Maldivian economy, this collaboration represents a timely and targeted effort to bring the Maldives closer to millions of potential travelers.
By integrating tourism campaigns into Ooredoo’s platforms and digital ecosystems, the partnership is expected to introduce the Maldives to a wider audience and reinforce the destination’s appeal as a haven of natural beauty, luxury, and cultural richness. As tourism trends evolve globally, such collaborations are essential in ensuring the Maldives remains a top choice for travelers seeking extraordinary experiences.
