Bangladesh’s capital city, Dhaka, became a hub for regional travel trade professionals from 18 to 20 September 2025, as the Asian Tourism Fair (ATF 2025) unfolded with vibrant participation from countries across Asia. Among the standout participants was the Maldives, represented by Visit Maldives in close collaboration with the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives in Bangladesh.

ATF-Dhaka is recognized as one of the region’s most influential tourism exhibitions, bringing together government tourism boards, private sector stakeholders, and development partners. The three-day event was not only a showcase of destinations but also a space for cultivating cross-border partnerships and enhancing regional tourism cooperation.

Visit Maldives led a strong delegation of Maldivian tourism businesses under its official banner. The Maldives’ presence was further amplified through co-exhibitors including resort representatives, hotels, and service providers who utilized the platform to promote the country’s world-renowned luxury and hospitality offerings. Their exhibition included high-quality digital brochures, promotional videos, and other visual materials that effectively captured the unique appeal of the Maldives.

The fair provided a two-pronged promotional opportunity, featuring both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) engagement. In addition to direct networking with travel agents, tour operators, and travel media, the Maldivian delegation participated in broader industry dialogues and knowledge-sharing platforms. ATF 2025 also featured thematic sessions focused on green tourism initiatives, community-based tourism markets, and skills development, alongside seminars, interactive workshops, and live cultural performances.

Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives, emphasized the value of the platform: “Our presence at ATF 2025 highlighted the Maldives’ unique offerings and provided a valuable opportunity for our industry partners to showcase their products, strengthen networks, and engage with a wide audience.”

The Maldives’ participation at ATF 2025 played a crucial role in enhancing the country’s visibility among Bangladeshi travelers, a growing outbound tourism market with rising interest in premium international destinations. With increasing air connectivity and favorable diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Bangladesh, the engagement at ATF 2025 is expected to contribute significantly to future arrivals from the region.

The event also allowed Visit Maldives to consolidate ties with regional tourism bodies, explore joint marketing efforts, and secure valuable leads from Bangladeshi and South Asian travel businesses. This effort reflects the ongoing strategy of diversifying source markets while maintaining the Maldives’ brand image as a premier tropical destination.

Through strategic promotion and meaningful participation at ATF 2025, the Maldives continues to position itself not only as an ideal escape for leisure travelers but also as a destination committed to sustainable tourism, regional cooperation, and cultural exchange.
