Visit Maldives (Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation/MMPRC) and Qatar Airways have entered a new strategic partnership aimed at enhancing global tourism to the Maldives. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing the collaboration was signed on April 28, 2025, during the Maldives’ participation at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Matt Raos, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Qatar Airways, and Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of MMPRC, in the presence of senior officials from both parties. The partnership is designed to strengthen tourism promotion through coordinated marketing, expanded connectivity, and innovative outreach strategies.

Through this alliance, Visit Maldives will collaborate with Qatar Airways to promote the Maldives across the airline’s extensive global network, which spans over 170 destinations. This includes joint marketing campaigns, trade partnerships, media collaborations, and educational initiatives targeting tourism professionals in key markets.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Matt Raos commented, “Our partnership with Visit Maldives reflects Qatar Airways’ ongoing commitment to connecting travellers to some of the world’s most inspiring and desirable destinations. The Maldives continues to be one of our most sought-after leisure markets, and we are delighted to strengthen our ties with such a vibrant destination.”

MMPRC CEO Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree highlighted the value of aligning with a globally respected airline like Qatar Airways. “This collaboration allows us to reach new audiences through a shared vision for premium travel experiences. Together, we aim to create deeper connections with travellers by offering access to the Maldives’ world-class resorts, pristine islands, and rich cultural heritage,” he said.

Qatar Airways already operates multiple daily flights to Malé, and its integration with Maldivian, the country’s national airline, offers seamless onward connections to 17 domestic destinations across the Maldives. This includes key islands such as Gan, Maafaru, Fuvahmulah, Hanimaadhoo, Dharavandhoo, and Kooddoo, among others, allowing visitors to explore more of the country with a single booking and smooth transfer through Velana International Airport.

The interline partnership with Maldivian launched last year has been instrumental in increasing accessibility and improving the travel experience for international tourists arriving via Qatar Airways. Upon arrival in Malé, passengers are conveniently directed to the domestic terminal to continue their journey to resort islands and guesthouse destinations across the archipelago.

This renewed collaboration is expected to play a key role in helping the Maldives meet its long-term tourism goals by tapping into Qatar Airways’ global distribution channels and customer base. It also supports efforts to attract high-value travellers from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and other emerging markets.

Qatar Airways remains a top contributor to Maldivian tourism, having consistently provided high-quality service and broad connectivity. With a shared focus on luxury, culture, and sustainable travel, this partnership is set to further reinforce the Maldives’ standing as one of the most desirable destinations in the world.
