To expand the Maldives’ presence in global premium travel markets, the Bank of Maldives (BML) and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) have signed a strategic partnership agreement to promote the country as a high-end travel destination through BML’s international partner networks.

The agreement was formalized on April 30, 2025, during the Maldives’ participation at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, a key global platform for tourism promotion. The collaboration will focus on harnessing BML’s global partnerships, particularly with international payment and card service providers, to support destination marketing campaigns that highlight the Maldives’ luxury appeal.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree said the initiative aims to offer more value, exclusivity, and convenience for premium travelers. “We are committed to enhancing the Maldives’ appeal in the high-end tourism sector by offering curated experiences and meaningful brand engagement through this collaboration,” he noted.

BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef emphasized the bank’s enthusiasm to support the Maldives’ tourism growth on a global scale. He explained that BML’s international partnerships, particularly through its exclusive credit card alliances, would be instrumental in driving visibility for the Maldives in premium markets. He also confirmed that campaign activities will begin soon, with targeted outreach across key travel regions.

This partnership aligns with the Maldives’ broader strategy to diversify its tourism base by attracting high-value travelers, a segment known for longer stays and increased spending. The campaign will be designed to enhance the overall visitor experience, aligning with the country’s vision to position itself as a top-tier destination known for luxury, natural beauty, and exceptional service.

By merging financial sector outreach with destination marketing expertise, the BML-MMPRC partnership offers a unique model for expanding the Maldives’ global tourism footprint, particularly among discerning travelers seeking premium experiences across the world’s most exclusive destinations.
