In a strategic move to boost tourism from China, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) partnered with Singapore Airlines to host an exclusive familiarisation trip for Chinese media representatives and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). Held from February 18 to 23, 2025, the initiative offered participants an immersive experience of the Maldives’ renowned hospitality at the luxurious Pullman Maldives Maamutaa and The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives.

This marks the first familiarisation trip of the year aimed at strengthening the Maldives’ position as a premier luxury travel destination for Chinese tourists. Participants had the opportunity to explore the country’s breathtaking landscapes, pristine beaches, and high-end resorts, gaining firsthand insight into the unique experiences that set the Maldives apart from other tropical getaways. By spotlighting the destination’s most distinctive features, the trip sought to enhance awareness and inspire a growing interest among Chinese travellers seeking an unparalleled island escape.

As of February 23, 2025, the Maldives has recorded 56,150 tourist arrivals from China, a promising figure reflecting the nation’s robust recovery in the market. To further expand its appeal, MMPRC has launched a series of targeted marketing campaigns, including social media promotions, digital collaborations, and engaging PR activities. Special initiatives celebrating the Chinese New Year, such as a digital campaign with Qunar and a dedicated webinar, have reinforced the Maldives’ visibility in China’s travel industry.

In its ongoing efforts to capture a larger share of the Chinese tourism market, MMPRC is actively participating in major industry events, organizing roadshows across key cities in China, and enhancing digital campaigns with compelling video content. These initiatives are designed to deepen engagement with Chinese travellers, showcasing the Maldives not only as a luxurious escape but also as a culturally rich and diverse destination.

With its continued dedication to sustainable tourism and innovative marketing strategies, the Maldives remains committed to maintaining its status as one of the world’s most sought-after travel destinations. Through these efforts, the island paradise aims to attract more visitors from China, ensuring that they experience the ultimate blend of natural beauty, luxury, and authentic Maldivian hospitality.
