The Maldives continues to solidify its position as a top-tier global travel destination, welcoming an impressive 471,234 tourists as of February 26, 2025. This marks a significant 6.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024, highlighting the nation’s sustained growth in the tourism sector. According to the latest Maldives Tourism Updates (Issue No. 06 – 27th February 2025), the archipelago’s unparalleled hospitality and breathtaking landscapes continue to attract visitors from around the world.

A breakdown of arrivals by accommodation type reveals that resorts remain the dominant choice, accounting for 69.1% of all stays, with 288,130 tourists opting for the exclusive island experiences that the Maldives is famous for. This underscores the enduring appeal of luxurious overwater villas, pristine beaches, and world-class hospitality.

China has reclaimed its position as the top source market, contributing 13.8% of total arrivals, with 57,569 Chinese tourists choosing the Maldives for their tropical escape. The latest statistics highlight a diversified global visitor base, with the top 10 arrival markets featuring other key contributors such as Russia, India, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, South Korea, and Switzerland.

Additionally, 99% of the country’s total 61,022 registered tourist beds were operational, demonstrating the robust infrastructure supporting this booming industry. The Maldives also continues to strengthen its air connectivity, with direct flights from more than 30 international airlines ensuring seamless travel options for visitors. Airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, and China Eastern Airlines remain pivotal in maintaining high arrival numbers, connecting the Maldives to key markets across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
