Maldivians can now access high-speed internet services via SpaceX’s Starlink company.
The company’s website states that that the service will offer 200 Mbps speeds, the monthly cost of which is roughly MVR 1,000.
For those who pre-ordered the Starlink Internet Kit via their website, Starlink has emailed the confirmations.
The package, which comes with a WiFi router unit, a mount, and a Starlink dish antenna, will be shipped in two weeks. The total cost of the package, including shipping, is MVR 10,300.
Aminath Shauna, the minister of technology, wrote on X that Starlink would offer “unique solutions for our island nation”.
Several nations are currently receiving internet services from SpaceX via satellite. In August, Maldives became the first nation in South Asia to grant a license for Starlink services.
