Private jet arrivals to the Maldives recorded a notable increase during the second half of March 2026, highlighting the destination’s continued appeal among high-end travellers and reinforcing confidence in the country’s luxury tourism sector. Data released by Maldives Airports Company Limited show that between 15 and 31 March, a total of 178 private jets landed in the Maldives, compared with 134 arrivals during the same period in 2025. This represents an increase of 32.8 per cent, underlining the Maldives’ strong position as a preferred destination for premium leisure travel.
Over the 16-day period, the Maldives welcomed an average of more than 10 private jet arrivals per day. The highest number of landings was recorded on 21 March, when 17 private jets arrived in the country, while the lowest was observed on 26 March, with five arrivals. By comparison, during the same period last year, the highest daily total stood at 13 jets and the lowest at two, showing a clear year-on-year rise in traffic within the private aviation segment.
The increase has been attributed by the Maldives Association for Travel Agencies and Tour Operators to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. As the Middle East remains an important transit region for visitors travelling to the Maldives, disruptions and cancellations affecting commercial airline routes have prompted some travellers to choose private jet services as an alternative. This shift has contributed to the higher number of private aircraft arrivals while also demonstrating the flexibility of travellers determined to maintain their holiday plans to the Maldives.
Industry stakeholders have stated that, despite the challenges affecting regional air connectivity, overall demand for travel to the Maldives has remained stable. This reflects the resilience of the country’s tourism industry and the enduring international interest in its world-class hospitality offering. The Maldives continues to attract visitors seeking privacy, exclusivity and seamless access to some of the world’s most distinguished island resorts, many of which are known for personalised service, exceptional villas, fine dining and bespoke wellness experiences.
The growth in private jet arrivals also points to the strength of the Maldives’ luxury resort market, which remains a major draw for global travellers looking for premium and uninterrupted holiday experiences. For many visitors, the Maldives offers a unique combination of natural beauty, high service standards and carefully curated resort experiences that cater to both leisure and lifestyle expectations. The latest figures suggest that even amid external challenges, the destination continues to benefit from strong traveller confidence, particularly among guests who value convenience, comfort and direct access to exclusive island retreats.
As the Maldives advances its position in the global tourism market, the rise in private jet traffic further reflects the destination’s ability to adapt to changing travel patterns while sustaining momentum across its high-value tourism segment. The latest trend is expected to provide further encouragement for resorts, tourism operators and aviation-related services, while also reaffirming the Maldives’ reputation as one of the world’s leading luxury holiday destinations.
