SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS, in collaboration with Master Dental Care Maldives, has launched its first community initiative in Guraidhoo, introducing its new CSR and sustainability platform, WITH CARE, ALWAYS. The initiative marks the beginning of a broader framework that brings together community wellbeing, cultural continuity, youth engagement and environmental responsibility under one unified approach. Led by the team of RAH GILI MALDIVES, the programme was held under the theme “A Culture of Care. A World of Smiles.” and focused on promoting dental awareness among children and families in the island community.
The programme welcomed 42 children between the ages of five and ten, accompanied by their parents, for a day centred on oral health education, early awareness and family participation. Developed in collaboration with K. Guraidhoo Council and K. Guraidhoo School, the initiative was further strengthened by the support of resort volunteers and members of the local community. The collaborative nature of the event reflected a meaningful partnership between the hospitality sector, healthcare professionals, educators and community stakeholders, demonstrating how resort-led initiatives can create lasting value beyond the boundaries of the property itself.
RAH GILI MALDIVES played a central role in shaping and delivering the initiative, underscoring the resort’s commitment to responsible hospitality and community connection. As a newly opened resort under the SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS portfolio, RAH GILI MALDIVES is positioning itself not only as a distinctive luxury destination in the Maldives, but also as a resort guided by purpose, cultural sensitivity and long-term engagement with the communities around it. The launch of this programme reflects a vision of hospitality that extends beyond guest experiences to include meaningful contributions to island life, with care and sustainability embedded into the resort’s identity from the outset.
During the event, children and parents participated in a series of engaging dental awareness activities, interactive games and practical sessions designed to make oral health education approachable and memorable from an early age. One of the highlights of the programme was the “Brush Right Challenge”, which introduced proper brushing techniques in a simple and enjoyable format that encouraged participation and understanding. Parents were also actively included through a question-and-answer session that provided practical guidance on oral care routines at home, helping to build confidence and awareness among families.
Ahmed Mujthaba, Principal of K. Guraidhoo School, welcomed the value of the programme and noted its relevance for both students and the wider community. He said that initiatives of this nature create genuine awareness within schools and communities, helping children develop healthy habits from an early stage while also giving parents the knowledge and confidence needed to support those habits at home. His remarks highlighted the importance of sustained educational outreach in shaping healthier futures for young people.
A key component of the initiative was the dental screening conducted for all participating children by the team from Master Dental Care Maldives, one of the country’s established private dental care providers based in Malé. Led by Managing Director Dr Ahmed Saleem, the visiting team carried out comprehensive screenings aimed at identifying oral health concerns early and guiding families on the next steps where further assessment or care may be needed. The inclusion of professional screening added significant value to the programme, combining education with direct preventive care in a way that supports long-term wellbeing.
Dr Ahmed Saleem said it was a pleasure for Master Dental Care Maldives to be part of the initiative alongside RAH GILI MALDIVES, the Guraidhoo Council and the school community. He noted that programmes like this create meaningful opportunities to engage both children and parents in understanding oral health, while also enabling professionals to identify areas where further care may be needed and guide families accordingly. His remarks reflected the shared commitment of all partners to improving access to awareness and early intervention.
The decision to centre the first WITH CARE, ALWAYS initiative on dental health was a deliberate and thoughtful one. Within school settings, oral health remains one of the most important areas where early education and preventive action can have a lasting impact on overall wellbeing. By focusing on prevention, education and early screening, the programme encourages healthier habits from a young age and promotes a more sustained culture of care within families and communities.
Laith Pharaon, Co-Founder and CEO of SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS, said the initiative represents the point at which the brand’s philosophy begins to take shape through consistent and meaningful action within surrounding communities. His remarks emphasised that the platform is intended to be expressed through practice rather than words alone, with each programme serving as a reflection of a values-driven approach to hospitality and stewardship.
The programme also reflects one of the six core values within the Rayyithun philosophy of SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS, “Return with Generosity,” a principle inspired by a way of life long practised across the islands of the Maldives. Rooted in the tradition of welcoming travellers seeking shelter during storms and the understanding that kindness is returned through gratitude and generosity, this philosophy continues to shape how the brand sees its relationship with neighbouring communities. It is a perspective that gives greater cultural depth to the resort group’s social engagement, connecting modern hospitality with enduring island values.
Adding a warm and creative dimension to the day, children were introduced to a reimagined version of Santhi, the Maldivian tooth fairy, presented not as a figure of fear but as one of warmth, encouragement and gentle care. To extend this message beyond the event itself, each child received a Santhi Promise Card, a small illustrated keepsake inviting them to commit to simple daily brushing and care habits. Written in gentle, rhythmic language, the card transformed an everyday routine into a meaningful and playful ritual, helping children take personal ownership of their wellbeing in a way that felt both memorable and lasting.
Marc Gussing, Senior Vice President of Operations at SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS, said the programme represents the point where commitment becomes practice. He noted that WITH CARE, ALWAYS will continue through consistent engagement, working alongside communities, supporting access where needed and ensuring that every initiative remains relevant and sustained over time. His comments reinforced the long-term nature of the platform and the intention to build genuine continuity in community partnerships.
Inspired by the spirit of the Katheeb, or island chief, WITH CARE, ALWAYS has been conceived as a broader framework for responsibility, stewardship and long-term engagement. While this first initiative focused on children’s wellbeing, the platform is designed to extend across generations, including support for the elderly who carry memory and lived knowledge, empowerment for women who sustain the rhythm of island life, and meaningful opportunities for youth. At the same time, the platform will also guide the brand’s wider sustainability commitments, ensuring that environmental responsibility and community engagement are approached as interconnected parts of one enduring effort.
For RAH GILI MALDIVES, the initiative represents a strong beginning and a clear expression of the resort’s identity as a luxury destination with a grounded sense of place and purpose. Rather than treating social responsibility as a separate agenda, the resort is integrating community care into the way it operates and engages with its surrounding environment. This adds an important dimension to the guest experience as well, as today’s global travellers increasingly value destinations that demonstrate authenticity, compassion and a meaningful connection to local communities.
With RAH GILI MALDIVES now open, WITH CARE, ALWAYS begins as an active practice shaped by ongoing engagement with surrounding islands. As SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS also prepares for the opening of DON MAAGA MALDIVES later this year, the platform is expected to extend across islands with the same consistency, care and purpose. Through initiatives such as this, the group is presenting a model of resort development that combines refined hospitality with social value, strengthening the relationship between tourism and community wellbeing in the Maldives.
