Dhiraagu Gamers Guild (DGG), the Maldives’ largest gaming platform, officially launched its Season 2 Opening Event at the headquarters of Dhiraagu on 31 January 2026, marking the start of a new chapter in the country’s rapidly evolving e-sports and gaming ecosystem. The event brought together gamers, partners, and industry stakeholders to celebrate the platform’s achievements and to unveil an extensive lineup of tournaments, community initiatives, and engagement-driven activities planned for the year ahead. Season 2 commenced with interactive gaming experiences, refreshments and coffee, and a vibrant performance by local music band Fenfulhi, creating an energetic and welcoming atmosphere for attendees.
During the launch, DGG reflected on a highly successful 2025, highlighting a year of strong growth and meaningful impact within the local gaming community. The Guild expanded its network to more than 11,000 registered gamers, distributed MVR 350,000 in prize pools, and awarded over MVR 150,000 worth of giveaways to players. The platform also organised 17 tournaments across 13 different gaming titles, demonstrating its commitment to inclusivity and diversity within competitive gaming. One of the standout achievements of the year was the hosting of the largest gaming event of its kind in the Maldives, the Dhiraagu Maldives Gaming Conquest in August 2025, which further reinforced DGG’s leadership role in advancing the national e-sports landscape.
Looking ahead, DGG outlined its vision for 2026, focusing on elevating the overall gaming experience through more community-powered tournaments, expansion beyond traditional gaming activities, and the introduction of its first international online tournament. These initiatives are designed to provide Maldivian gamers with broader exposure, enhanced competitive opportunities, and a stronger sense of belonging within a global gaming environment. The platform also announced the upcoming launch of Leaderboards and new Guild features scheduled to go live within the year, aimed at increasing engagement, healthy competition, and long-term participation across the community.
The event also served as an opportunity to recognise valued partners whose continued support contributes to the growth and sustainability of competitive gaming in the Maldives. DGG acknowledged its Premium Sponsor, MINISO, along with Elite Partners Villa Mart, MegaChip, and Sheesha, for their pivotal role in empowering gamers and strengthening the local e-gaming ecosystem through ongoing collaboration.
Building on its position as the country’s biggest gaming platform, DGG remains dedicated to promoting and developing e-sports across the Maldives while nurturing the next generation of gaming talent. With a clear roadmap, strong community support, and strategic partnerships, the Guild continues to set new benchmarks in Dhiraagu’s journey to elevate Maldivian gaming to greater heights, positioning the nation as an emerging hub for competitive gaming in the region.
