Hulhule Island Hotel (HIH) has been named “World’s Leading Airport Resort 2025” at the 32nd Annual World Travel Awards (WTA), held this year in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Grand Final Gala Ceremony brought together tourism leaders and industry pioneers from across the globe to recognise outstanding achievements in international travel, tourism and hospitality. This latest win marks HIH’s 14th consecutive triumph in the category, reaffirming its position as a benchmark for airport hospitality. The property has also been honoured as “Indian Ocean’s Leading Airport Hotel” nine times, having first earned recognition from the World Travel Awards in 2009, underscoring a long-standing reputation built on consistency, service quality, and guest satisfaction.

Commenting on the achievement, Ali Shakir, Group General Manager of Hulhule Island Hotel, said it was an honour to once again receive such a globally recognised accolade. He noted that the award reflects the dedication and professionalism of the hotel’s team and the continued trust of its guests. Shakir added that Hulhule Island Hotel “continues to stand proudly in all its glory, delivering exceptional experiences year after year,” and reiterated the hotel’s commitment to setting the gold standard for airport hospitality in the region and beyond.

Strategically located on Hulhulé, the international airport island of the Maldives, Hulhule Island Hotel serves as a key gateway for travellers arriving at or departing from Velana International Airport. The hotel is less than five minutes from the terminal by surface transfer and provides round-the-clock shuttle services, offering a seamless transition between flights and accommodation for transit passengers, business travellers, and leisure guests alike.

The resort combines the practicality of an airport hotel with the charm of a Maldivian getaway. Surrounded by turquoise waters, HIH is designed to cater to a diverse mix of guests, from short-stay transit visitors to corporate travellers and holidaymakers looking for a convenient yet relaxing start or end to their Maldivian journey. Guests have access to a private beach area, a large outdoor swimming pool, spa facilities, a fully equipped fitness centre, sun terraces and landscaped gardens. The hotel also offers multiple dining venues and bars, delivering a variety of culinary experiences in both casual and refined settings, complemented by Wi-Fi access and modern in-room amenities.

Accommodation at Hulhule Island Hotel is designed to maximise comfort and convenience, with rooms and suites that offer either sea or garden views and balconies to enjoy the surrounding scenery. The property features a range of categories, including Deluxe rooms, Super Deluxe rooms and Suites, all equipped with contemporary comforts such as air-conditioning, flat-screen televisions, minibars and thoughtfully curated bathroom amenities. Family options and interconnected rooms ensure that the hotel can comfortably host a variety of guest segments, from solo travellers and couples to families and small groups.

In addition to its leisure offerings, Hulhule Island Hotel is well positioned as a business-friendly property. Meeting and event facilities, along with dedicated services for corporate travellers, make the hotel a preferred venue for small conferences, briefings, and diplomatic or business delegations passing through Malé. Tailored transit and layover packages, such as day-use rooms combined with access to pool, beach, and leisure facilities, enable travellers to relax, refresh, and remain productive between flights while staying within close reach of the airport.

Hulhule Island Hotel has extended heartfelt gratitude to its valued guests, partners, and dedicated team members for their continued support in achieving this significant milestone. The consecutive recognition at the World Travel Awards further strengthens the hotel’s profile as a trusted and widely preferred airport resort in the Maldives, reinforcing its role in enhancing the overall travel experience for visitors transiting through or staying near the country’s main international gateway.
