Young Maldivians with a passion for learning and a drive to test their knowledge have a unique opportunity to shine in the Maldives Monetary Authority’s (MMA) nationwide Tamweel FinLit Challenge. Designed to promote financial literacy and strengthen awareness of Islamic finance, this engaging quiz competition offers cash prizes of up to MVR 10,000 and encourages youth participation in an innovative, intellectually stimulating format.

Open to Maldivians aged 16 to 25, the Tamweel FinLit Challenge runs as a league-style competition consisting of six online rounds. Teams of three to five members will face a series of multiple-choice and true/false questions covering essential financial topics such as personal budgeting, responsible digital financial practices, understanding credit and debt, and principles of Islamic finance. The format not only tests textbook knowledge but also challenges participants with scenario-based questions that simulate real-life financial decision-making, promoting a deeper understanding of smart money management.

As teams advance through the rounds, their scores will be tracked on a dynamic leaderboard. The five highest-ranking teams will qualify for a live final round conducted in person, where they will compete head-to-head for the championship and a share of the prize pool. The champion team will be awarded MVR 10,000, while the second and third place teams will receive MVR 7,000 and MVR 5,000 respectively.

The MMA will manage the online competition platform and extend technical assistance to ensure a smooth experience for all registered teams. Each team is required to nominate a team leader, who will act as the primary contact and coordinator throughout the challenge. Applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM Maldivian time on the last day of September. Interested participants are encouraged to register without delay via the official link: https://shorturl.at/awZ9B.

This competition reflects the MMA’s broader commitment to nurturing a financially aware and informed generation. By incorporating Islamic finance education and personal financial management into a competitive and rewarding format, the initiative empowers Maldivian youth with knowledge that is both practical and rooted in cultural values.

For any registration difficulties, participants may contact the MMA team directly via email at [email protected].

With the registration deadline fast approaching, this is an ideal moment for curious, motivated young people to embrace a fun, educational experience with the added incentive of valuable cash prizes—while developing lifelong skills in financial responsibility.
