His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu delivered a strong address at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on 15 September 2025, where leaders of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States gathered in response to the Israeli attack on Qatar on 9 September.

Speaking before heads of state, ministers, and dignitaries from across the Islamic world, President Dr Muizzu condemned the assault on Doha as a violation of Qatari sovereignty and a direct attack on the dignity of the Arab and Islamic world. He described the strike as “a crime against humanity and a direct attack on peace itself,” stressing that Qatar, widely recognised as a central mediator for peace in Gaza, deserves acknowledgment for its humanitarian role rather than punishment.

The President highlighted that the aggression against Qatar fits into a broader pattern of Israeli violations, including the occupation of Palestinian territories, the targeting of civilians, doctors, and journalists, and the obstruction of humanitarian aid. He denounced the double standards that have shielded Israel from accountability, insisting that international law must apply equally to all nations.
President Dr Muizzu stated firmly: “The Maldives rejects this path of destruction and stands unwavering in defence of human dignity, justice, and the right to live free from oppression and occupation.” He reaffirmed that no member of the Muslim Ummah should be left to face aggression alone, underlining the solidarity of the Maldivian people with the government and people of Qatar.
Calling for decisive international action, President Dr Muizzu urged that Israeli leaders be held accountable for war crimes through coordinated political, economic, and diplomatic measures. He also appealed for immediate humanitarian relief to be directed to Gaza and the West Bank, warning that “words alone cannot stop bombs or rebuild shattered lives.” He stressed that the world must choose between law and lawlessness, justice and injustice, peace and terror.

The Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, hosted by the State of Qatar under the auspices of the OIC, served as a vital platform for collective action. Leaders and representatives from Member States convened to deliberate on urgent strategies to end the atrocities in Palestine and restore stability in the region. Central to the discussions was the reaffirmation of unity within the Muslim Ummah and the call for a just and peaceful two-state solution to guarantee the Palestinian people’s right to sovereignty and self-determination.
President Dr Muizzu’s participation underscores the Maldives’ dedication to principled diplomacy and its active role in defending international peace and security. His address not only highlighted the Maldives’ solidarity with Qatar but also reinforced the nation’s voice on the global stage as a steadfast advocate for justice, human dignity, and international law.
