In a vibrant celebration of marine life and women’s empowerment in diving, OBLU NATURE Helengeli by SENTIDO has launched a unique underwater photography exhibition in collaboration with TGI Maldives and Divernet, one of the world’s longest-standing diving platforms. This inspiring initiative marks the observance of PADI Women’s Dive Month and reinforces the Maldives’ growing reputation as a premier destination for ocean-centric tourism experiences.
The newly launched exhibition showcases a series of captivating underwater images taken by acclaimed British photographer and marine writer Richard Aspinall during his recent visit to the resort. With a professional background in ecology, conservation biology, and wildlife heritage management, Aspinall’s portfolio reveals an immersive glimpse into the diverse coral reefs surrounding Helengeli Island. His photographs feature a stunning variety of marine species, including swirling schools of blue-line snappers, graceful whitetip reef sharks, vibrant clown triggerfish, and hauntingly beautiful moray eels, all captured with ecological precision and artistic flair.
The exhibition was officially opened by a delegation of seven international female journalists, joined by TGI Maldives Operations Manager Greta Marcelli, General Manager Alain Trefois, and the dedicated OBLU NATURE Helengeli by SENTIDO operations team. The launch reflects the resort’s commitment to inclusive ocean experiences and marine awareness.
“Helengeli offers more than a pristine reef, it’s a dynamic ecosystem teeming with life. The energy here is truly unique. This exhibition not only highlights the vibrant marine biodiversity but also the spirit of empowerment and inspiration that flows through our waters. We are grateful to Richard Aspinall and Divernet for their contributions in making this vision a reality,” said General Manager Alain Trefois.
This initiative builds upon the resort’s strong history of promoting women in diving. In 2023, OBLU NATURE Helengeli by SENTIDO became the first recipient of the PADI® Outstanding Contribution to Female Diving Award. This recognition was followed by the resort hosting ten international female journalists in July 2024, introducing them to scuba diving and showcasing the beauty of the Maldivian underwater world as part of the global PADI Women’s Dive Day celebrations.
Continuing this momentum, the resort has now officially launched the International PADI Women’s Dive Month 2025 in partnership with TGI Maldives and ELE|NA Ayur Spa. Throughout the month of July, female guests will be able to enjoy specially curated experiences that combine the thrill of scuba diving with rejuvenating wellness sessions. These programs are thoughtfully designed to empower women by promoting confidence, mindfulness, and a sense of community both beneath the ocean’s surface and in tranquil spa settings.
Located on the secluded island of Helengeli in the North Malé Atoll, OBLU NATURE Helengeli by SENTIDO offers direct access to some of the most biologically rich coral reefs in the Maldives. The resort is well-known among marine enthusiasts for its exceptional house reef, where divers and snorkelers can encounter a wide range of reef fish, turtles, rays, and even reef sharks within minutes from the shoreline.
With its commitment to sustainable marine tourism, inclusive programs for female divers, and partnerships with global diving experts, OBLU NATURE Helengeli continues to offer world-class experiences that merge ocean discovery with purposeful travel. The marine exhibition stands not only as an artistic showcase but also as a testament to the resort’s dedication to marine conservation, education, and gender inclusion in the diving community.
For ocean lovers seeking both adventure and meaning, OBLU NATURE Helengeli by SENTIDO presents an unforgettable opportunity to experience the magic of the Maldives, one dive at a time.
