Sheikh Dr. Salah Al-Budair, Imam and Khateeb of Al-Masjid Al-Nabawi in Madinah, delivered a powerful address to over 170 Maldivian Imams, Khateebs, and Hafiz during a special gathering held at the Islamic Centre’s Conference Hall. The event formed a key part of Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair’s official visit to the Maldives, which was arranged under the directive of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and facilitated by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

The session was attended by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and Grand Imam of the Masjid Sultan Mohamed Thakurufanul Auzam, Sheikh Mohamed Latheef. The gathering provided a platform for Imams, Khateebs, and Young Hafiz to engage directly with one of the Islamic world’s most respected figures.

In his address, Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair called on Hafiz, Imams and Khateebs to serve as exemplary role models, leading their communities with wisdom, sincerity, and humility. He emphasized the importance of earning public trust through personal integrity, good character, and active promotion of moral values. Cautioning against divisive rhetoric, he urged them to uphold unity and peace within their communities.

Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair stressed the need for continuous learning and scholarly discipline, particularly in mastering Islamic rulings related to worship and daily life. He encouraged a balanced and moderate approach to religious practice, firmly rooted in the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Touching on the responsibilities of religious leaders in the digital era, he advised Imams and Khateebs to maintain professionalism on online platforms and avoid sharing content inconsistent with their position. He reminded them that their role extends beyond the mosque and carries a responsibility to represent Islamic values with dignity in both private and public spheres.

This visit by the Imam of Masjid Al-Nabawi represents a meaningful step in the Maldives’ efforts to invest in faith-based leadership and build bridges with the global Islamic community. His guidance to the nation’s Imams, Khateebs, and Hafiz is expected to have a lasting impact on the development of Islamic education and community engagement in the Maldives.
