Maldives Expo 2026 is drawing strong public interest as hundreds of entrepreneurs, artisans and creative businesses from across the country come together to showcase locally developed products, traditional craftsmanship and emerging business ideas under one roof.
A total of 780 participants registered for this year’s expo, with 419 exhibitors presenting 4,404 products. The figures represent an 83.5 per cent increase in participating exhibitors compared with 2025, when 240 participants showcased 2,400 products, reflecting the continued expansion of the Maldives’ entrepreneurial and creative economy.
The expo has been organised across seven dedicated districts designed to connect businesses directly with customers, strengthen market visibility and create new commercial opportunities. Since opening, the exhibition has attracted large numbers of visitors, with participating businesses reporting strong interest and encouraging sales.
The Food and Beverage Marketplace has emerged as one of the most popular areas of the expo, featuring a wide variety of locally produced food products. Several participating businesses said visitor demand had exceeded expectations, with some struggling to maintain sufficient production to meet the level of interest.
“The reception has been very good. It keeps getting better day by day,” one participating business said, while another noted that public support had been overwhelming and that demand for products had remained consistently strong.
The Creative Economy District has also received an enthusiastic response, providing Maldivian creative businesses with a platform to present their work to a broader audience. Exhibitors said visitors had shown considerable appreciation for the quality, originality and presentation of locally developed products.
Traditional Maldivian handicrafts are another important feature of the exhibition, highlighting skills and cultural knowledge passed through generations. Participating artisans welcomed the opportunity to introduce their work to younger audiences, noting that exhibitions such as Maldives Expo can encourage more young people to pursue traditional crafts while helping established creators reach new customers.
The expo is also attracting international tourists alongside local visitors, offering businesses an additional opportunity to introduce Maldivian products, services and creative industries to a global audience. For companies operating in tourism and related sectors, the exhibition provides a valuable setting to promote services and establish connections with potential customers, business partners and investors.
Dedicated networking spaces have also been established for service providers, entrepreneurs and prospective customers to meet and explore potential partnerships, further strengthening the expo’s role as a platform for business development.
Maldives Expo 2026 highlights the growing diversity of the country’s entrepreneurial sector and the Government’s continued efforts to expand opportunities for local businesses, creators and artisans. With participation rising significantly from last year and public interest remaining strong, the exhibition is providing an important national platform for showcasing Maldivian talent, encouraging enterprise and strengthening connections between businesses and consumers.
