With the azure waters and luxury resorts of the Maldives continuing to attract global attention, the Travel Trade Maldives (TTM) Connect 2022 took center stage from August 23 to 24, bringing together the region’s top tourism stakeholders under one roof. Hosted at the elegant Meerumaa Events Conference Facility in Malé, the event set a vibrant stage for business-to-business networking between hoteliers and global travel professionals. Over two dynamic days, more than 3,000 pre-arranged meetings unfolded between 500 industry experts and over 100 hotel and resort partners, with deals worth over one billion dollars anticipated to be negotiated during the event.

Each registered participant at TTM Connect 2022 had the opportunity to schedule up to 50 one-on-one meetings, each lasting 20 minutes, creating a focused and productive environment for meaningful discussions and strategic collaborations. The sessions ran from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM across both days, reflecting the growing scale and professionalism of tourism exchange events in the Maldives.

The venue, Meerumaa Events Conference Facility, offered an exceptional setting for the high-level meetings. With three interconnected floors, each spanning 3,200 square feet—the space comfortably accommodated up to 150 guests per hall. Designed for premium corporate functions, the facility is equipped with state-of-the-art amenities including sound systems, projectors, customized seating arrangements, and professional sanitization services. Culinary services were provided by Kahika Catering, known for tailoring exquisite menus that cater to diverse international palates, an important feature that complemented the global nature of the event.

In parallel with the main meetings, the CROSSROADS Maldives, a premier lifestyle destination developed in the Emboodhoo Lagoon—served as the backdrop for the TTM Travel Summit and the prestigious TTM Awards & Gala on August 25. This extension of the event provided attendees with an immersive setting to explore tourism innovations, build relationships, and celebrate excellence in hospitality. The CROSSROADS resort itself, known for its fusion of world-class resorts, a cultural center, luxury marina, and vibrant dining experiences, underscored the Maldivian tourism sector’s shift toward integrated, sustainable development and experiential luxury.

Strategic collaboration underpinned the success of TTM Maldives 2022, supported by prominent partners such as Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC), Ooredoo Maldives, CROSSROADS Maldives, Jalboot Maldives, HRS International, and IDeaS. These alliances highlighted the private and public sector’s shared commitment to strengthening the Maldives’ reputation as a premier global travel destination, not only for its iconic resorts and marine beauty, but also as a thriving hub for international tourism business exchange.

As tourism remains the backbone of the nation’s economy, platforms such as TTM Connect continue to play an instrumental role in expanding business opportunities, elevating hospitality standards, and strengthening the Maldives’ appeal to both seasoned travelers and new markets worldwide.
