The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), the central bank and key financial regulator of the Maldives, is inviting local and international contributors to submit articles for its newly launched Economic and Finance Magazine. This magazine is designed to serve as a dedicated space for sharing in-depth knowledge, diverse perspectives, and forward-thinking ideas on finance and economics, especially in the context of small island economies.

This initiative marks a valuable opportunity for policymakers, academics, industry specialists, and members of the public to engage in meaningful contributions that can shape economic discourse both within the Maldives and beyond. As the financial landscape continues to evolve with emerging technologies and digital trends, the MMA aims to facilitate a platform where innovative and research-driven ideas can foster wider awareness and promote informed discussions on contemporary financial matters.

The first edition of the magazine is themed “Digital Lifelines: Fintech for Island Economies.” Under this theme, contributors are encouraged to explore a wide range of topics that address the critical role financial technology can play in enhancing the resilience and efficiency of island-based economies. Submissions may examine the development of digital payment platforms, the integration of artificial intelligence into financial services, mobile banking solutions for remote communities, policy frameworks that balance regulation and innovation, overcoming connectivity and digital literacy challenges, and leveraging fintech to strengthen climate resilience and the blue economy.

The MMA encourages a variety of article formats including opinion pieces, research articles, explainers, interviews, case studies, and book reviews. All entries must be written in English, range between 500 and 2,000 words, and be submitted in Microsoft Word format. Articles selected for publication will not only be featured in the magazine but will also receive a financial reward, adding an extra incentive for participants to share their insights.

Submissions are open to all institutions and individuals, reflecting MMA’s inclusive approach to collaborative knowledge-sharing. The deadline for submissions is 9 October 2025, and selected authors will be notified by 26 October 2025. All entries should be emailed to [email protected].

Through this publication, the MMA continues to reaffirm its commitment to financial education, public engagement, and the development of research-led policy dialogue—efforts that are essential to navigating the economic complexities and opportunities of the modern era. As a central institution entrusted with promoting monetary stability and fostering a sound financial system in the Maldives, the MMA’s latest initiative aligns seamlessly with its broader vision to nurture economic innovation and sustainable development, especially through collaborative global partnerships.
