Maafushi is set to welcome athletes and enthusiasts from around the world as it prepares to host the Maldives Aquathlon Championship 2025 on October 31 and November 1. Organized by Swim Maldives in partnership with Kaani Hotels and Tours, this event will combine the excitement of competitive sports with the unmatched hospitality of one of the Maldives’ leading hotel brands, showcasing the island as a vibrant hub for international sports tourism.

The Sprint category will involve a 500-meter swim and a 2.5-kilometer run, while the Discover Aquathlon category offers a more relaxed format, encouraging children of all ages to participate in a 200-meter swim or sea walk and a 500-meter run along the beach.
On November 1, the focus shifts to team relays, fostering camaraderie and teamwork. Teams of two will compete in both the Elite and Sprint formats, while the Discover Aquathlon will welcome families to take part together, blending fitness with family fun in a uniquely Maldivian setting.
Up to 300 individual participants and 150 team athletes are expected to compete, making this one of the largest aquathlon events in the country. To ensure athlete readiness and safety, a mandatory race briefing will be held on October 30 at the Kasthoori Maalam conference hall located within Kaani Palm Beach, Maafushi. This session will provide participants with all necessary guidelines and logistical information.
