According to official figures released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, the country has recorded a total of 1,016,377 tourist arrivals as of 10 June 2025, reflecting a 9.4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
On average, 6,313 tourists arrive in the Maldives each day, drawn by the country’s pristine white-sand beaches, crystal-clear lagoons, and world-class hospitality. The steady flow of visitors underlines the Maldives’ enduring appeal as a leading international holiday destination.

Tourist interest remains especially strong from key global markets. China leads the way as the top source market with 122,088 arrivals. Russia follows with 112,638 tourists, and the United Kingdom ranks third, contributing 102,022 visitors. These figures showcase the Maldives’ robust connectivity and global appeal, drawing travelers from across Europe and Asia.
Accommodation preferences among visitors further highlight the Maldives’ premium travel experience. Resorts remain the top choice, accommodating 71.9% of tourists, followed by guesthouses at 22.8%, and hotels at 2.8%. This trend underscores the popularity of the Maldives’ luxurious overwater villas and private island resorts, alongside the growing interest in affordable local tourism experiences through guesthouses.
Currently, there are 1,203 registered tourist facilities across the country, offering a total of 64,033 beds. These facilities range from five-star resorts and boutique guesthouses to charming hotels, catering to a wide range of traveler preferences and budgets.
