A fresh chapter in cultural tourism is unfolding in the heart of the Maldives, as two renowned luxury resorts, Patina Maldives and The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, announce the launch of the Fari Islands Festival, scheduled to take place from 19 to 22 September 2025. This thoughtfully curated event blends creativity, sustainability, and personal wellbeing to offer guests a multi-sensory experience that goes far beyond traditional luxury.

Designed to inspire reflection and deep engagement, the festival will bring together an acclaimed lineup of international creatives, including bestselling Canadian poet and illustrator Rupi Kaur, British DJ and sound artist Kim Turnbull, and Tokyo’s fine dining innovators Wagyumafia. Over four days, guests will explore a diverse programme of art, wellness, music, marine exploration, and gastronomy, all set within the architecturally refined and environmentally conscious Fari Islands archipelago.
A Journey of Creativity, Connection, and Contemplation
Far from the ordinary, the Fari Islands Festival is built on a foundation of intention and resonance. The programme encourages guests to connect meaningfully with artists, thought leaders, and the natural world.
-
Literary Expression: Rupi Kaur will headline the creative sessions, offering personal poetry readings and conversations that explore themes of healing, identity, and self-awareness.
-
Wellbeing and Sustainability: The Bamford Experience, led by wellness expert CJ Jones-Leake and former professional athlete turned sustainability advocate Anthony Mullally, offers daily sessions of breathwork, mindful movement, and holistic therapies.
-
Marine Awareness: National Geographic Explorer and shark scientist Gibbs Kuguru, in collaboration with the Olive Ridley Project, will guide immersive marine conservation experiences including snorkelling excursions, workshops, and ecological storytelling.
-
Sound and Atmosphere: Soundscapes will be curated by Kim Turnbull, crafting an auditory environment that complements the island’s rhythm through ambient tones and live performances.
-
Gastronomic Discovery: Culinary artistry takes center stage as Wagyumafia presents a series of intimate dinners showcasing Japan’s famed Kobe beef. Complementing this is Nutmeg and Clove, an award-winning cocktail studio known for transforming mixology into a form of artistic narrative.
A Shared Vision Across Two Distinct Resorts
The festival will span the Fari Islands’ twin resorts, each offering a unique but complementary hospitality philosophy. Patina Maldives is rooted in innovation and artistic exploration, encouraging guests to seek deeper meaning through transformative experiences. In contrast, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives focuses on refined craftsmanship and harmony with nature, guided by the timeless ethos of the Circle of Life.
Anchored by Fari Marina Village, a shared space connecting both resorts through art, dining, and community design, guests are encouraged to seamlessly explore both properties and their rich, interwoven offerings.
General Managers Anthony Gill of Patina Maldives and Oscar Postma of The Ritz-Carlton Maldives emphasize the festival’s role in cultivating purposeful travel. “This is more than an event, it’s a call to engage fully, to participate in moments that matter,” Gill explains. Postma adds, “It’s a space where time slows down, where culture and connection enrich every encounter.”
An Invitation to Discover More
