A high-level meeting held in Kuwait has further elevated the enduring partnership between the Republic of Maldives and the State of Kuwait. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, met with Sheikh Fahad Yousef Al-Saud Al-Sabah, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Kuwait, as part of his ongoing official visit aimed at enhancing cooperation across key areas of mutual interest.
The meeting took place at the Bayan Palace, where Minister Khaleel conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, and to the esteemed Kuwaiti leadership. The visit reflects the Maldives’ continued efforts to strengthen diplomatic partnerships that support national development, regional stability, and international cooperation.
During the discussion, Minister Khaleel reflected on the longstanding fraternal relationship between the Maldives and Kuwait—an alliance grounded in shared Islamic values, mutual respect, and a history of sincere collaboration. He extended heartfelt appreciation to the Kuwaiti government for its generous and consistent support to the Maldives, particularly in the areas of social and economic development. Kuwait’s assistance has played a crucial role in major national projects, including contributions through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
Sheikh Fahad Yousef Al-Saud Al-Sabah reaffirmed Kuwait’s strong commitment to enhancing ties with the Maldives and expressed keen interest in exploring new avenues for cooperation that could bring mutual benefit. His remarks emphasized Kuwait’s dedication to building on the existing goodwill and expanding collaboration in strategic sectors.
The Acting Prime Minister was joined at the meeting by senior Kuwaiti officials, including Shareeda Abdullah Saad Al-Maousherji, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs; Abdulaziz Dakhil Al-Dakhil, Chief of the Prime Minister’s Diwan; and Samih Essa Jowhar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs.
Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Joint Secretary Ms. Khadeeja Najeeha and Political Director Ms. Fathimath Nasha Ismail. Their presence underlines the Maldives’ comprehensive approach to diplomacy, engaging across various levels to deepen partnerships and advance shared goals.
This high-level engagement represents another important step in reinforcing the friendly and cooperative relations between the two nations.
