Dhiraagu Plc, the Maldives’ leading telecommunications and digital service provider, has reported a net profit of USD 15.1 million for the first quarter of 2025, marking a steady year-on-year growth of 6.18 percent compared to the USD 14.1 million posted during the same period in 2024.
The company’s Q1 financial results reflect its continued ability to maintain profitability in a dynamic market environment, underpinned by strong performance in its fixed broadband segment. According to the quarterly financial report, Dhiraagu generated USD 45.3 million in total revenue for the first three months of 2025. This represents a slight decrease of 0.14 percent compared to the same quarter last year, when the total revenue stood at approximately USD 45.36 million.
While mobile services remained a key contributor, bringing in USD 24.1 million in revenue, the figure is marginally lower than the USD 24.4 million recorded in Q1 2024. However, the dip in mobile revenue was offset by increased demand for fixed broadband internet services, which brought in USD 19.8 million, a 1.3 percent rise from the USD 19.5 million earned in the same period last year.
This growth in broadband subscriptions reflects changing digital consumption trends among Maldivian residents and international visitors alike, especially as remote work, online education, and digital tourism services become more prevalent. The shift further reinforces the Maldives’ reputation as a digitally connected island nation, capable of supporting both local demand and the growing expectations of global travelers.
Dhiraagu’s performance in the opening quarter of 2025 also highlights the resilience of the telecommunications sector in the Maldives and its critical role in supporting the country’s broader economic framework, including its tourism-dependent economy. With robust broadband infrastructure in place across the islands, visitors can enjoy high-speed internet access while exploring one of the world’s most sought-after destinations, making connectivity another attractive feature of the Maldivian experience.
As the tourism sector continues to thrive, Dhiraagu’s technological backbone ensures seamless communication and digital convenience for visitors, contributing to elevated service standards in resorts, guesthouses, and liveaboard operations. The company’s commitment to expanding digital infrastructure and services continues to align closely with the government’s broader vision for a more connected and digitally empowered Maldives.
