His Royal Highness Prince Fahad Saud Alshalan of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia paid a courtesy call on His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on 05th May 2025, Monday at the President’s Office, further strengthening the longstanding and trusted partnership between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia.
The meeting took place following the official signing of the Joint Venture Agreement for the Maldives International Financial Centre (MIFC), a flagship initiative set to redefine the Maldives’ economic architecture by expanding beyond traditional tourism. President Muizzu extended his gratitude to His Royal Highness for his attendance at the signing ceremony and expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued support and friendship.
In his remarks, the President underscored that the MIFC will play a central role in driving the country’s economic diversification efforts. Designed to serve as a regional hub for financial services and global investment, the MIFC reflects the Maldives’ forward-looking vision to create sustainable and resilient economic pathways. President Muizzu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing strong international partnerships that promote growth and innovation across various sectors.
His Royal Highness Prince Fahad expressed admiration for President Muizzu’s developmental agenda and shared his support for the Maldives’ ambition to broaden its economic base. He conveyed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s interest in further enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas where both countries can mutually benefit from infrastructure and energy to tourism and finance.
