As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen global air access and position the Maldives as a premium travel destination, the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim, and CEO and Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree, held high-level meetings with Oman Air and Batik Air during the Maldives’ participation at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 in Dubai.

In separate meetings with senior executives from both airlines, the Maldivian delegation explored potential aviation partnerships aimed at expanding flight connectivity, increasing route frequency, and enhancing the Maldives’ visibility across key regional markets. The discussions focused on joint marketing opportunities, route development, and collaborative strategies to support tourism growth from the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

The meeting with Oman Air centred on building a closer tourism and aviation partnership to strengthen the Maldives’ presence in Gulf markets. The airline, which offers a robust network throughout the Middle East and beyond, was identified as a key partner to help connect high-value travellers to the Maldives through seamless air links and co-branded marketing campaigns.

Similarly, the discussions with Batik Air, one of Southeast Asia’s emerging carriers, focused on enhancing access from South and Southeast Asian markets, especially Indonesia and Malaysia. Strengthening regional links through Batik Air would support efforts to diversify tourist arrivals and broaden market reach.

Minister Thoriq Ibrahim emphasized the importance of improving air access in driving sustainable tourism growth. “Expanding our air connectivity is vital to supporting the Maldives’ tourism ambitions. Partnerships with airlines such as Oman Air and Batik Air allow us to reach travellers seeking both luxury and culturally immersive experiences,” he noted.

MMPRC CEO Ibrahim Shiuree added, “These discussions mark an exciting step in our regional outreach. We are working to ensure that the Maldives remains well connected to global markets, while also building partnerships that reflect the values of the Maldivian brand: hospitality, sustainability, and unforgettable travel experiences.”

The meetings were held in conjunction with a highly successful presence at the Maldives’ ATM 2025 stand, which attracted strong interest from travel trade professionals, media, and influencers from around the world. The Maldives stand featured vibrant cultural displays, interactive promotions, and immersive storytelling that brought the essence of the “Sunny Side of Life” to Dubai.

MMPRC expressed its appreciation to all visitors and partners who showed great enthusiasm at the event. The success of these engagements, including the strategic airline meetings, reflects the Maldives’ ongoing commitment to building stronger tourism links, increasing accessibility, and delivering value to both industry stakeholders and international travellers.
