The Maldives has taken centre stage at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, held from April 29 to May 1 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, with an impressive showcase of its cultural heritage, scenic beauty, and hospitality. Represented by 235 delegates from 110 tourism-related companies, the Maldives is this year’s featured destination country, making a bold statement about its growing prominence in the global travel industry.
Tourism and Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim, along with Chairperson of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Ibrahim Shiuree, led the nation’s efforts at the fair, joined by senior MMPRC officials and industry stakeholders. The event attracted wide international attention, with over 160 countries and 41 global media outlets participating.
As part of the fair’s opening events, the Maldives pavilion received a visit from Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Emirates Airline, who was welcomed by Minister Thoriq. The pavilion highlighted the Maldives’ tourism offerings through immersive displays, marketing materials, and cultural exhibits.
Adding depth to its presence at ATM, the Maldives hosted its first-ever Maldivian Evening at the Theatre of Digital Arts (TODA) in Souk Madinat Jumeirah. This special event served as a vibrant cultural presentation designed to engage international tourism professionals and showcase the country’s identity beyond its iconic beaches. The venue’s digital projection technology and VR experience brought the Maldives’ island life, traditions, and visual landscapes to life for attendees.
In his address during the event, Minister Thoriq stressed that the Maldives is more than just a holiday destination. He emphasized the importance of its people, culture, and warm hospitality in shaping the overall visitor experience. MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree added that the Maldives’ tourism strategies are increasingly shaped by data-driven planning, aimed at promoting both environmental and cultural aspects to a global audience.

The evening also featured captivating performances by local musicians, storytelling by artists, and live painting by renowned Maldivian artist Ali Ishaan (Khuraha Raa’ppe), reflecting the diverse talents of the island nation. Performances by the band Sky Rock further enlivened the atmosphere, reinforcing the Maldives’ cultural depth and creative spirit.
The Maldives’ participation in ATM 2025 also reflects a strategic shift in international tourism promotion, moving from previous major fairs like ITB Berlin to Dubai’s ATM due to its logistical advantages and accessibility for participants. Industry leaders believe this move will enhance outreach and reduce challenges such as visa delays.
With the Maldives actively engaging the global market and promoting its cultural and natural richness at ATM 2025, the country continues to reinforce its reputation as one of the world’s most enchanting travel destinations, where authentic heritage meets world-class hospitality.
