Held at Perdana Putra, the Office of the Prime Minister, the official welcoming ceremony began with the presentation of the First Salute by the Malaysian Guard of Honour. Both nations’ national anthems were then played, symbolising the mutual respect and diplomatic goodwill shared between the two countries. President Dr Muizzu conducted an inspection of the Guard of Honour, followed by the presentation of the Second Salute, an honour accorded to visiting heads of state.

Following the ceremonial honours, President Dr Muizzu and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim participated in an introduction session where key figures from each government were introduced. Malaysian cabinet ministers and senior officials were presented to President Dr Muizzu, while members of the Maldivian delegation, including several Ministers and the High Commissioner of Maldives to Malaysia, were introduced to the Prime Minister.

A formal photo opportunity was held with the majestic Masjid Putra, an iconic symbol of Putrajaya providing a striking backdrop, capturing a moment that further cements the deepening relations between the Maldives and Malaysia. As part of the official protocol, President Dr Muizzu also signed the Visitors’ Book at Perdana Putra, a tradition that symbolizes goodwill and the spirit of continued cooperation between the two nations.

The official ceremony was attended by ambassadors representing several countries accredited to Malaysia, further highlighting the regional and international attention drawn to President Dr Muizzu’s visit. President Dr Muizzu’s visit to Malaysia aims to reinforce diplomatic ties, promote greater economic collaboration, and explore new areas of cooperation, particularly in areas of trade, education, and community welfare. With a large number of Maldivians living in Malaysia for education and employment, this visit is also an important opportunity to enhance services for the diaspora and address community concerns.
