Representatives from the Maldives have proudly strengthened the nation’s presence on the global tourism stage by participating in the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual General Meeting and Annual Summit, held from April 21 to 23, 2025, in Istanbul, Turkey.
Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment, Ms. Meenas Shaugy, and Director of Tourism Research and Statistics, Ms. Mariyam Sharmeela, represented the Maldives at this prestigious gathering. The summit attracted tourism leaders, policy makers, and experts from across Asia Pacific and beyond, offering an important platform for collaboration, sharing of best practices, and shaping the future of travel in the region.
Held under the theme “Timeless Wisdom for a Sustainable Future,” the PATA Annual Summit 2025 centered on how cultural heritage, sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity can be interwoven to create a resilient and thriving tourism sector.
