A powerful call for compassion, unity, and spiritual renewal echoed through the Sultan Mohamed Thakurufaanu Al-Auzam Mosque as Sheikh Dr. Salah Al-Budair, the esteemed Imam and Khateeb of Al-Masjid Al-Nabawi, delivered the Friday sermon on 25th April 2025 during his official visit to the Maldives.

Centered on the theme “Be Loving Brothers to One Another,” Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair’s address resonated deeply with the congregation, offering a stirring reminder of the values that bind the Ummah. Speaking with eloquence and heartfelt conviction, he urged believers to lead lives characterized by mercy, humility, and mutual respect, aligning their actions with the principles permitted by Allah.

Throughout the sermon, Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair highlighted the virtues of assisting others, encouraging the faithful to teach those lacking knowledge, support the needy through charity, respect elders, show kindness to children, guide those who have gone astray with wisdom, and show kindness even to animals. Emphasizing mercy, he reminded worshippers that those who are merciful toward Allah’s creation will themselves be recipients of divine mercy, spared from suffering in the Hereafter.

He drew attention to the noble act of fulfilling the needs of others, stating that extending a helping hand, even in small ways, carries more virtue than extended periods of worship at Masjid Al-Nabawi. “Do not turn away those in need,” he urged. “Extend kindness, generosity, and charity without hesitation, and answer the call of those seeking help with a heart full of compassion.”

In an emotional moment that captured the spirit of the entire sermon, Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair challenged the congregation with reflective questions:
“How long will you ignore the one who reminds you? How long will you shut your ears to sincere advice? Has the time not come for humility? Is it not time to rise for Tahajjud? Are we asleep? Or have our hearts stopped beating? Brother, wake up from your deep slumber!”

The congregation listened intently, many visibly moved by the Imam’s powerful call to awaken their hearts and renew their commitment to faith, humility, and service.

Sheikh Dr. Al-Budair’s sermon forms part of a wider itinerary during his official visit to the Maldives, arranged with the blessing of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and under the guidance of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. His presence and message have enriched the spiritual landscape of the Maldives, reinforcing the country’s strong religious and cultural ties with Saudi Arabia and inspiring renewed dedication to Islamic values among the Maldivian people.
