Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mr. Mohamed Ameen has traveled to Doha, Qatar, to participate in the ministerial segment of the 2025 ICAO Facilitation Conference (FALC 2025), hosted by the International Civil Aviation Organization. The conference, which runs from 2025 April 14 to 17, gathers aviation leaders and senior policymakers from around the globe to discuss the future of air transport under the theme “Facilitating the Future of Air Transport.”

Minister Ameen is scheduled to address the high-level segment, alongside fellow ministers from ICAO member states. The discussions are expected to focus on refining international aviation policies, improving the efficiency of cross-border travel, and adapting to the rapidly evolving technological landscape. Central to the conference is the emphasis on fostering inclusive and secure global aviation practices that respond to current and emerging market demands.

A key highlight of the event is the adoption of the Doha Declaration on Facilitation of International Air Transport 2025. This resolution aims to reinforce global aviation networks by enhancing passenger rights, modernizing security protocols, and promoting sustainability across air transport services. The declaration also encourages the implementation of advanced technologies to ensure smoother, safer, and more accessible air travel.

On the sidelines of the event, Minister Ameen met with Mr. Mohamed Faleh Alhajri, Acting President of Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority. The two leaders discussed strengthening air transport cooperation between the Maldives and Qatar, emphasizing efforts to expand connectivity, improve travel experiences for passengers, and support mutual economic growth through enhanced aviation links.

By participating in this prestigious forum, the Maldives is reinforcing its commitment to improving its aviation infrastructure and service standards. Minister Ameen’s involvement is seen as a proactive step toward aligning the nation with global aviation reforms, vital for a tourism-driven economy like the Maldives, where efficient and seamless international connectivity is key.
