Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, a distinguished name in luxury island hospitality, has earned a place among the Top 10 Best Resorts in the Maldives at the DestinAsian Readers’ Choice Awards 2025. This recognition, based on the votes of discerning travellers across the Asia-Pacific region, highlights the resort’s enduring reputation for offering authentic Maldivian experiences that blend comfort, nature, and responsible tourism. Known for its barefoot luxury concept and environmentally conscious operations, the resort continues to attract global attention for its commitment to sustainable travel.

In celebration of its continued success and in alignment with its guest-centric philosophy, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and its sister property Dhawa Ihuru are currently offering an attractive “Stay More, Pay Less” promotion. Available until 31 December 2025, the offer encourages longer stays with savings of up to 30%, and includes added value such as USD 100 resort credits and exclusive amenities. This initiative invites guests to relax a little longer and immerse themselves in the pristine beauty of the Maldives, where meaningful memories are made with every sunrise and sunset.

The two resorts recently hosted a heartfelt Media Iftar Gathering on 20 March 2025, bringing together local media professionals for an evening of gratitude and connection. The event began with an intimate Iftar at Sangu Garden, followed by a peaceful gathering at Madi Hiyaa. This occasion not only honoured the contributions of the media in promoting Maldivian tourism, but also reflected the resorts’ appreciation for local partnerships and cultural values.

Further cementing their leadership in environmental responsibility, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Dhawa Ihuru actively took part in Earth Hour 2025 on 22 March. Guests and staff began the evening with sunset meditation, followed by a candlelit acoustic music session that offered a reflective moment in nature’s embrace. The highlight of the evening was a glowing 60+ display along the shoreline, symbolizing unity in global environmental action and underscoring the resorts’ dedication to sustainability.

In addition to global awareness events, the resorts also engage in hands-on local environmental initiatives. In collaboration with the community of Huraa Island and the island council, resort teams and guests recently participated in a coastal clean-up operation, removing nearly 100 kilograms of waste from vital mangrove ecosystems. These monthly clean-ups exemplify the resorts’ longstanding philosophy of “Embracing the Environment,” a commitment upheld by the Banyan Tree Group for over three decades.

Education and conservation are equally prioritized. As part of their marine awareness outreach, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru hosted students from Himmafushi High School for an experiential learning session focused on coral biology and marine ecosystems. The visit featured interactive workshops and hands-on training in coral micro-fragmentation techniques. By the end of the session, students had successfully planted 110 coral fragments, contributing directly to reef regeneration and strengthening their role as future stewards of the environment.

Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Dhawa Ihuru continue to serve as shining examples of how luxury travel can harmonize with ecological mindfulness and cultural respect. These islands are not just destinations, they are living spaces where nature, people, and purpose are seamlessly intertwined. Travellers in search of tranquility, meaningful experiences, and a true connection with the Maldives’ natural beauty are warmly welcomed to rediscover the islands in barefoot elegance and mindful luxury.
