In preparation for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has successfully distributed Eid clothing and accessories to orphans and underprivileged children residing in state-run care facilities across the Maldives in collaboration with the Ministry of Social and Family Development. This charitable initiative was made possible through the support of the Emirates Red Crescent under the Ramadan Project 1446, with generous contributions from the United Arab Emirates.
The handover of Eid clothes was formally carried out by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, targeting children in Fiyavathi, a state care facility located in Hulhumalé, as well as a number of orphanages and child service centers located in various atolls across the country. This year’s clothing assistance was conducted under the broader Ramadan Project 1446, a charitable initiative spearheaded by the Emirates Red Crescent and the UAE government to support Islamic countries and communities during the holy month of Ramadan. The project focuses on providing food, clothing, and other necessities to families and individuals in need.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs expressed gratitude to the Emirates Red Crescent and the government of the United Arab Emirates for their continued support in humanitarian efforts that uplift the lives of the vulnerable population in the Maldives. The Ministry also acknowledged the close cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the area of charitable assistance during Ramadan and other religious occasions.
This initiative highlights the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to ensure that no child under state care is left out during major Islamic festivals and underscores the value of international partnerships in enhancing the wellbeing of children in care.
