The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has initiated the distribution of Ramadan food packages to families in need across the Greater Malé region. This effort is part of the Emirates Red Crescent’s annual Ramadan initiative, which continues to provide vital assistance to Muslim communities worldwide during the holy month.
This year, under the 1446 Ramadan Project, 100 food packages are being distributed to 100 vulnerable households. Each package contains a variety of essential food items, intended to support daily meal preparation and provide families with the means to observe Ramadan with dignity and ease.
The Ramadan Project, funded and implemented annually by the Emirates Red Crescent, is a long-standing humanitarian effort by the United Arab Emirates. It aims to ensure food security for underprivileged Muslim families during Ramadan, a time of reflection, charity, and community. The initiative provides food assistance and Iftar meals to thousands of households across different regions, especially in communities facing economic hardship or conflict.
Through this collaboration, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Emirates Red Crescent reaffirm their commitment to extending care and solidarity to those in need. The distribution in the Maldives highlights the strength of international cooperation in humanitarian work, particularly during spiritually significant periods such as Ramadan.
The Ministry expressed its gratitude to the Government of the United Arab Emirates, Embassy of United Arab Emirates in the Maldives and the Emirates Red Crescent for their continued generosity and support in helping Maldivian families in the holy month with greater ease and comfort.
