The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has officially commenced the 1446 Ramadan Iftar Program across selected mosques in the Greater Malé area, supported by a generous donations from the United Arab Emirates, Emirates Red Crescent under the Ramadan Project 1446. This annual collaboration continues to bring meaningful assistance to the Muslim community during the holy month, ensuring hundreds are provided with daily Iftar meals.
Funded every year by the Emirates Red Crescent, the Ramadan Project is a key humanitarian initiative by the United Arab Emirates that extends support to Muslim communities around the world. Through this program, essential food aid and Iftar packages are delivered during the month of Ramadan to help ease the burden on families and individuals, especially those attending mosques for prayers and breaking their fast.
In 2025, the Ministry’s Iftar Program will distribute a total of 1,938 Iftar packages at 14 mosques within the Greater Malé region. These mosques include Masjidh Al Sultan Muhammad Thakurufaanu Al Auzam (Islamic Centre), Masjid Shaheel Ali, Masjid Zikura, Masjidul Sultan Mohamed Fareedhul Awwal, Masjid Salahudhin, Masjid Al-Sultan Muhammad Bin Abdullah, Masjidhul Furuqaan, Masjid Noor, Masjid Sultan Hassan Izzadeen, Masjid Azeeza Moosa (Hulhumalé), Masjid Umar Bin Khattab (Hulhumalé), Masjid Rasheed (Hulhumalé), Masjidul Asdhiga (Hulhumalé), and Masjid Usman Bin Affan (Hulhumalé).
The Iftar packs are prepared and distributed daily at these mosques throughout Ramadan, offering worshippers a chance to break their fast with ease and comfort. The Ministry expressed its sincere appreciation to the Emirates Red Crescent for their continued support and commitment to charitable efforts in the Maldives. This partnership plays a vital role in promoting solidarity and compassion during one of the most spiritually significant periods in the Islamic calendar.
