To enhance air connectivity and elevate the visitor experience, the Minister of Tourism and Environment of the Maldives, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim, engaged in high-level discussions with key international airlines and tour operators during the prestigious ITB Berlin Fair 2025. These discussions aim to boost accessibility to the Maldives, reinforcing its position as a leading global travel destination.
Accompanied by top officials from the Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) and key industry stakeholders, Minister Thoriq met with executives from British Airways, Condor Airlines, and Qatar Airways. The meetings centered on strengthening strategic partnerships to enhance flight routes, increase seat capacity, and introduce new travel options, ensuring seamless access for tourists from around the world.
Beyond airline collaborations, Minister Thoriq also held talks with representatives from Booking.com and Dubai National Air Travel Agency (DNATA) to explore innovative ways to enrich the overall visitor experience. These discussions focused on improving booking efficiency, streamlining travel logistics, and offering personalized services to cater to the evolving expectations of global travelers.
During his visit to ITB Berlin, Minister Thoriq participated in the United Nations (UN) Tourism Ministers Summit, where he actively contributed to discussions on investment in tourism, maintaining global peace, and fortifying the resilience of the international travel industry. Addressing key global tourism leaders, he emphasized the importance of international collaboration in navigating shifts in traveler preferences and leveraging technological advancements to drive industry growth. He reiterated the Maldives’ unwavering commitment to delivering an unparalleled visitor experience while building a sustainable, competitive, and future-ready tourism sector.
ITB Berlin 2025, which commenced on Tuesday and runs through Thursday, is one of the world’s leading travel trade fairs, attracting tourism professionals and businesses from across the globe. This year, the Maldives is proudly represented by a 200 members delegation from 89 companies, showcasing the nation’s unparalleled hospitality, pristine natural beauty, and diverse tourism offerings. The Maldives’ strong presence at the event reaffirms its dedication to innovation and excellence, ensuring that the island paradise remains a top choice for travelers seeking unforgettable experiences.
