Maldivian has announced a large reduction in surfboard carrying fees in response to a resident’s concerns about the exorbitant costs.
The airline made the announcement on Sunday in response to a question Ahmed Rasheed, a GDh resident, put on the Q&A website “Raeesge Javaab.” Gadhdhoo emphasized the cost that visitors to the island for surfing activities must pay.
Rasheed emphasized that travelers would have to pay about USD 800, including airfare for both ways and surfboard fees, to travel to Gadhdhoo, which is known for having some of the best surfing locations in the world.
Charges for huge surfboards that are 86″ by 24″ and have a thickness or width of six to ten inches have been reduced by 33 percent under the new structure.
Furthermore, a new category with fees 66 percent lower than the original rates has been established for little surfboards with a width of up to five inches.
Situated in the southern Maldives, Gadhdhoo is a popular surfing destination since it has some of the best surf spots in the nation, including the well-known Tiger Stripes surf point.
