Kandooma Maldives has expanded its all-inclusive holiday concept, introducing a wider collection of island and ocean experiences that allow guests to explore more of the Maldives as part of their stay.
The 146-villa resort in South Malé Atoll has transitioned towards an experience-led all-inclusive concept under its new brand promise, “Discover. Experience. Celebrate.” The enhanced offering combines dining with activities including scuba diving, traditional sunrise line fishing, reef snorkelling, a sunset cruise and selected spa treatments.
The development comes as Kandooma Maldives continues to strengthen its position as a family-focused island destination. Recently named Leading Family Resort at the South Asian Travel Awards, the resort is placing greater emphasis on helping visitors experience the natural beauty, marine environment and traditional island culture of the Maldives without having to plan each activity separately.
“We want family holidays to be easier, more enriching and considerably more fun,” said Kandooma Maldives General Manager Andrew Drummond. “For us, all-inclusive shouldn’t just mean food and drinks. We want guests to be able to say yes to more of the Maldives.”
Qualifying all-inclusive stays are available for a minimum of four nights and include 24-hour dining across participating outlets, one Sunset Splash Cruise per person during the stay, one group reef snorkelling experience per person each day, one sunrise fishing trip per stay and a 30-minute massage for guests aged over 18. Certified scuba divers also receive one dive per day. Selected benefits are renewed for guests staying beyond four nights.
One of the experiences highlighting Maldivian culture is the Sunrise Fishing Trip, which gives visitors an opportunity to try traditional line fishing as the island and surrounding ocean come to life in the early morning. The activity forms part of the resort’s “Kandooma Ways” programme, designed to connect visitors more closely with the Maldives, its people, traditions and natural surroundings.
Guests can also experience the Indian Ocean during the Sunset Splash Cruise, travelling across the water as the evening sky changes over South Malé Atoll. For those looking to explore beneath the surface, daily group reef snorkelling introduces guests to coral formations, schools of tropical fish and other marine life found around the island.
Kandooma Maldives is particularly well positioned for diving enthusiasts. Its PADI 5-Star Dive Centre provides access to 28 dive sites, including the renowned Kandooma Thila, located approximately five minutes from the resort by boat. Depending on the season, site and ocean conditions, divers may encounter turtles, rays, sharks and colourful reef fish while exploring channels, walls, reefs and underwater thilas.
The inclusion of one daily scuba dive for certified divers on qualifying packages gives visitors the opportunity to explore several parts of South Malé Atoll during a single holiday, adding further value to the resort’s experience-focused concept.
Dining has also been designed around flexibility. Kandooma Café operates 24 hours a day, offering options ranging from breakfast and lunch to late-night meals and snacks, particularly benefiting guests arriving late or departing early.
The newly introduced Kandooma Beach Club adds another dimension to the resort’s family offering. During the morning, younger guests can enjoy an Arcade Zone featuring billiards, table tennis, foosball and arcade games, while the venue later offers à la carte dining overlooking the beach. All-inclusive guests also receive one dinner at Kandooma Beach Club for every four nights of their stay.
Elsewhere on the island, Bokkuraa Pool Deck provides casual poolside dining, while Baraveli Beach Bar offers a relaxed beachfront setting overlooking the Indian Ocean. The resort has also introduced Scoops Gelateria, adding another family-friendly option for guests seeking ice cream and refreshments during their holiday.
Guests looking for a more private dining experience can arrange a floating breakfast in their villa pool, while the resort continues to offer a variety of dining choices suited to couples, families and groups.
The experience is complemented by Kandooma Spa by COMO Shambhala, where eligible adult guests can select either a 30-minute back, neck and shoulder massage or a 30-minute foot massage. Guests may also extend the included treatment by combining it with additional spa services.
Beyond the activities included in the package, Kandooma Maldives operates a changing daily programme of complimentary and bookable experiences for both adults and children. Guests can choose between active days filled with ocean adventures and island activities or a quieter holiday centred around the beach, pool and resort surroundings.
“We didn’t want families worrying about every extra cost or thinking about the bill at the end of their stay,” Drummond said. “We want them to relax, try something new and make terrific memories.”
The expanded offering adds to the Maldives’ increasingly diverse tourism portfolio and complements wider national efforts to strengthen the country’s reputation as a world-class destination offering not only premium accommodation, but meaningful cultural, marine and family experiences.
With its location in South Malé Atoll, extensive diving opportunities, family facilities, 24-hour dining and growing range of included activities, Kandooma Maldives is positioning the traditional all-inclusive island holiday around a simple idea: giving visitors more opportunities to discover and experience the Maldives throughout their stay.
