The Maldives Finance Forum 2026 will place sustainable investment, climate-resilient infrastructure and the blue economy at the centre of national financial discussions, as the country continues to strengthen its long-term economic resilience and attract responsible investment into key development sectors.
Organised by the Maldives Pension Office, the 13th edition of the annual forum is scheduled to be held on 14 November 2026 at DusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives under the theme, “Green Finance: Unlocking Sustainable Investment and Financial Security in the Maldives.” The forum is expected to bring together policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, investors, development partners and local and international experts to examine how sustainable capital can contribute to the Maldives’ development priorities and long-term financial security.
A major focus of the discussions will be identifying practical financing opportunities for renewable energy, climate-resilient infrastructure and the blue economy—areas considered increasingly important to the future competitiveness and sustainability of the Maldivian economy. Participants will also explore financial instruments, investment structures and market conditions that could support the development of a credible and attractive domestic green finance market.
The forum comes as climate-related risks increasingly influence investment, lending and regulatory decisions across global financial markets. For a climate-vulnerable island nation such as the Maldives, strengthening access to sustainable financing can support greater economic resilience while creating new opportunities for infrastructure development, clean energy investment and sustainable utilisation of the country’s marine resources.
The discussions are also expected to build on progress made by the Government and national institutions in strengthening the country’s sustainable finance framework. This includes the Maldives Sustainability Reporting Framework introduced by the Capital Market Development Authority in 2024, which supports greater transparency and the environmental and sustainability disclosures required to build investor confidence and facilitate credible green financing.
Green finance also carries important implications for the country’s pension system. As both an institutional investor and a social security provider, the Maldives Pension Office manages savings over long investment horizons, making the strength and resilience of the domestic economy an important consideration in securing sustainable returns for pension members.
“Pension savings are invested over decades, so the risks and opportunities that will shape the Maldivian economy over the next twenty or thirty years matter directly to our members,” said Yazmeed Mohamed, Chief Executive Officer of the Maldives Pension Office.
He added that green finance is fundamentally connected to investment in a stronger and more resilient economy, noting that the Finance Forum will bring together key stakeholders capable of translating sustainable finance concepts into practical investment opportunities for the Maldives.
The selection of DusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives as the venue also reflects the country’s continued position as a leading international hospitality destination. Located within convenient reach of the capital region, the resort provides a contemporary island setting for high-level discussions bringing together leaders from the financial, investment, regulatory and development sectors. Hosting the forum within the Maldives’ internationally recognised resort environment further highlights the close relationship between sustainable investment, tourism development and the broader economic future of the island nation.
Through the Maldives Finance Forum 2026, the Maldives Pension Office is expected to further encourage dialogue between the public and private sectors on mobilising long-term capital, strengthening financial security and expanding sustainable investment opportunities. The forum will also support the Government’s broader efforts to build a resilient economy capable of attracting international investment while safeguarding national development priorities for future generations.
